Dordt College Baseball vs. Doane

(Crete, Nebraska) Dordt College salvaged a conference split with Doane on Friday in Crete, Nebraska with an 11-5 win in game two of the twinbill.
As they did in game one, the Defenders scored two runs in the first with Jed Bennett singling and then with two outs Bobby Lutker walked. With the runners moving on contact, Dillon Peters belted a two run double to open the scoring. Doane got those two back in the bottom of the inning only to have Dordt score two more when Nate Daane walked and Jon Ledeboer singled. After a bunt single by Scott Van Zanten to load the bases Daane scored on a double play. Eric Van Maanen salvaged one more run with a single for a 4-2 lead.
Travis Feekes scored in the third running for Travis De Jong who doubled and Ledeboer scored in the fourth on a double play after reaching initially on an error. The Defenders put the game out of reach with two in the fifth for an 8-2 lead and tacked on three more in the seventh after Doane scored two in the sixth.
Dordt knocked out 12 hits in teh win with Bennett, Peters and Vanten all with a pair while Eric Van Maanen, De Jong, Lutke, Jeremy Hilt, Daane and Ledeboer each had one hit. Ledeboer had three runs scored.
Kyle Dieleman got the win, going six innings with seven hits allowed and four runs with three walks. Daryl Visser finished the game, working the seventh and allowing three hits and run.
Dordt is now 3-9 while Doane is 2-11. The Defenders are scheduled to face Hastings on Saturday afternoon in a doubleheader in Nebraska.
