(Fremont, Nebraska) Midland Lutheran forced a split of their non-conference doubleheader with Dordt College on Wednesday night with a 4-1 decision in the nightcap at Fremont, Nebraska.

Dordt stranded eight runners in game where both teams had five hits. Midland Lutheran got on the board with a run in the first inning and another in the third that was unearned. The Warriors tacked on two more unearned runs in the fourth before Dordt scored in fifth innng when Scott Van Zanten and then was chased home on a triple by Josh Bowers. Dordt had another chance to score in the sixth inning, but stranded two runners.

Dordt had five different players get one hit each. Bowers' triple was the Defenders' lone extra base hit. Scott Van Zanten, Jed Bennett, Bobby Lutke, Eric Van Maanen and Josh Bowers accounted for the hits and Travis De Jong was walked twice after getting three hits in the opener.

Kyle Dieleman took the loss, allowing five hits, one earned run, four runs, one walk and struck out three in going the distance. Mike Burdine got the win for Midland Lutheran as he allowed five hits, two walks and struck out nine. TJ Stosich earned the save.

Dordt is now 1-5 heading into their Spring break trip. Midland Lutheran is 4-10.
