Dordt College Baseball vs. Midland (NE)

(Fremont, Nebraska) The Dordt College Defender baseball team won their first game in five tries with a 3-0 win over the Midland Lutheran Warriors in non-conference play on Wednesday at Fremont, Nebraska.
Daryl Visser spun a one-hit shutout for the win and got three runs of offensive support. Dordt scored single runs in the third, fourth and sixth with Travis De Jong leading Dordt with a 3-4 game at the plate with a double and a run batted in the third inning that opened th scoring. Chris Liebhart led the fourth inning off with a homerun and was 2-3 at the plate. Liebhart reached for a single in the sixth and gave way to pinch-runner Eric Van Maanen who eventually scored when Travis Feekes reached on an error. Jeremy Hilt, Dillon Peters and Scott Van Zanten all had singles for the Defender who are now 1-4.
Visser went the distance, allowing one hit, one walk and struck out three. The Defenders stranded ten while the Warriors squandered three on the bases. JD Shoemaker takes the loss, allowing seven hits and three runs--one of which was earned and struck out seven.
