(Fremont, Nebraska) The Dordt College Defender baseball team lost their first game of the season, a non-conference loss to the Midland Lutheran Warriors in Fremont, Nebraska.

The Defenders took the early lead, relinquished it in the middle frames, only to take a 9-5 lead after the top of the seventh inning. The Defenders were unable to close the game out, surrendering five runs in the home half of the seventh inning.

Darryl Visser took the loss in relief of Chris Liebhart who worked five innings. Offensively, Nate Daane banged out three hits while Derek Peters had a pair of hits, including a homerun and two runs batted in. Jon Ledeboer knocked in two runs with a double and Jeff Zomer pushed two runs across as well.

The game was a seven inning contest.
