Dordt College Baseball vs. Concordia

(Sioux Center, Iowa) The Concordia Bulldogs won a narrow 4-2 Great Plains Athletic Conference baseball decision to sweep their doubleheader with Dordt College at Open Space Park in Sioux Center.
Concordia took a 3-0 lead with single runs in the first,fourth and sixth innings. Dordt came up with a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning when Jeff Zomer and Brent Van Maanen both singled and Scott Boer walked. With the bases loaded, Travis De Jong banged a one-out single to make it 3-2. Concordia got an insurance run in the seventh and held on for the win, 4-2.
Nate Daane took the loss, allowing three runs on eight hits through six innings, Kyle Dieleman worked the final inning for Dordt and gave up a run on one hit. Matt Mirtsching earned the win for Concordia, lifting Concordia's record to 8-10 in conference play while Dordt slipped to 6-14 with four conference games remaining.
Dordt had five hits with Brent Van Maanen, Travis De Jong, Jeff Zomer, Dillon Peters and Jeremy Hilt all had a single each as Dordt mustered five singles against the Bulldogs. Tad Tewes and Zach Williams both had a pair of hits for the visitors.
