Dordt College Baseball vs. Mount Marty

(Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt College Defender men won a dramatic, come-from-behind 9-8 none-conference decision over Mount Marty in game one of their doubleheader on Wednesday, April 19.

The Defender fell behind 8-0 heading to the bottom of the fifth inning. Dordt got three runs back in the bottom of the fifth and one in the sixth, setting up the dramatics for the seventh inning.

Jon Ledeboer knocked in a run with a single and Jeff Zomer cleared the bases with a double, his second of the game, to tie the game at 8-8. Then, with two outs, Travis De Jong delivered a single up the middle to plate Zomer with the game-winner.

Brent Van Maanen had three singles and scored a run for Dordt and Zomer was 2-2 at the plate. Nate De Wit earned his first collegiate win in relief, working the final two and two-third innings of the game.
