2009-10 VOLLEYBALL

Played in all 42 matches as a freshman in 2008. Had 240 digs and served at a 95 percent success rate. Served 3 aces in five different matches, once against Black Hills State, in a game where she also had her season-high 13 digs. Weingartner graduated from high school as the career leader in digs in Colorado High School volleyball with 1,197. She played on four state tournament teams and was named Best Defensive Player during her junior and senior seasons at Faith Christian Academy (Colorado). Was a first-team all-league pick as a senior and took second-team honors as a sophomore and junior and earned a spot on the Colorado High School Coaches’ Association all-state team in 2007.

Competed in 153 varsity sets last season and had a .956 serve success rate, and put up 790 assists. Had a season-high 26 assists on October 4, 2008, against Doane. In 2007, Cassie had 12 assists, 23 digs, 218 serves, and 13 aces for the varsity squad, while also setting for the junior varsity team. As a freshman, she totaled 41 digs, 26 assists, and 24 aces at the varsity level and averaged 9.3 assists per game in JV matches.

Griess holds the Nebraska Christian record for kills in a season with 444 in 2008. She earned four varsity letters at Nebraska Christian and was named honorable mention all-state in 2007 and 2008. Griess claimed first-team all-conference honors as a senior and was accorded second-team all-state Class D-1 honors.

Played all but one Varsity set as a junior last season. Had 88 kills, 83 assists, 103 digs, and 82 total blocks. Season-high 5 kills came against Bellevue on September 28, 2008. In 2007, Betsy had 134 kills with a .223 kill efficiency, while lofting 100 assists. She also averaged 3.5 digs per game and recorded 40 aces in 661 serves with a .934 service success rate. As a freshman, she had 95 kills, 96 assists and averaged 3.4 digs.

Vis was a three-year starter for Bulkley Valley Christian High School and helped her team to Provincials in 2006 and 2007 where they placed fourth and ninth respectively. She also was a part of an Under-16 club team that won the Northern BC Winter Games.

Hampered by injury in 2008, Tinklenberg played in five varsity matches and four junior varsity matches. She averaged 2.8 kills per set in her junior varsity action. Played in all of the JV matches in 2007 along with five varsity matches. Beth averaged 4.03 kills per game during the JV season.

Played in 15 matches for the Defenders’ JV team last season, where she had 42 assists, 53 digs, and a .965 serve success rate. Totaled 1,098 assists with 79 ace serves, 44 blocks and 229 digs in her high school career, and earned first-team all-state, all-Big Sioux Conference and all-city honors for Sioux Falls Christian (South Dakota). Vande Kamp earned all-state tournament honors while helping the Chargers to their first ever state volleyball championship in 2007. She also played in the South Dakota Coaches’ Classic in the summer of 2008.

Van Zanten recorded 3.9 kills per set as a high school senior with a .405 kill efficiency as Pella Christian earned a spot in the Class 2A State Volleyball Tournament. Van Zanten also recorded 1.2 blocks and 3.3 digs per set in 2008. Van Zanten claimed first-team all-state honors in both 2007 and 2008 and was a First-Team All-Little Hawkeye Conference pick. She helped the Eagles to a pair of conference titles in 2007 and 2008.

Played in every set for the Defenders as a sophomore in 2008, and was named to the NAIA All-America Second-Team and the All-GPAC First-Team. Paced the team with 597 total kills, averaging 3.78 per set. She also had 36 solo blocks and 162 block assists. Four solo blocks came against Mount Marty on October 31, 2008, and 11 block assists against Doane on August 29 of the same year. Her season-high 22 kills were also in a match against Doane, on October 4. In 2007, she was a second-team All-GPAC pick. Kendra was third on the team in total kills with 495--a 3.37 per game average, playing in all 41 matches. Led the team with a 1.33 per game average and had a season high eight blocks in six different matches.

Landegent was an outside hitter on Western’s 2007 and 2008 State Championship teams and earned first-team all-state honors in Class 2A this season after claiming honorable mention honors in 2007. Landegent was a first-team all-Lakes Conference selection in 2008 and totaled 410 kills that season with a .382 kill efficiency and 46 ace serves. Landegent was in on 80 blocks and had a 91.2 percent success rate at the service line. She was a 2008 academic all-conference pick as well.
