    Dykstra and Gill are Soccer Players-of-the-Week
    (Week of October 15 - October 21, 2000)
        Liz Dykstra of Dordt and Hastings’ Denise Gill have been named the Great Plains Athletic Conference
    (GPAC) Players-of-the-Week in women’s soccer for games played October 15-21.
        Dykstra, a junior forward from Grandville, Michigan, is the GPAC Offensive Player-of-the-Week. She scored
    the lone, game-winning goal in the Defenders’ 1-0 victory over National American SD. Dordt also rolled
    to victories over Sioux Falls (7-1) and Bellevue (6-0) and Dykstra totaled three goals and two assists for
    eight points in the three wins.

    Gaskill Named NAIA National Player-of-the-Week
    (Week of October 8 - October 14, 2000)

        Kalie Gaskill of Dordt College (Iowa) has been named the NAIA Women’s Soccer National Player of the Week for the week ending October 14, 2000.
        Gaskill, a senior forward from Sioux City, Iowa, scored a point in all three matches last week as Dordt improved to 9-5 on the year. After beginning the week with a goal in a 3-2 overtime loss to the University of South Dakota, Gaskill was involved in seven of the 14 goals that were scored over the next two games. In an 8-0 victory over Midland Lutheran College (Neb.), Gaskill recorded four assists. She followed that with a two-goal, one-assist performance in Dordt’s 6-1 triumph over Concordia University (Nebraska).
        Gaskill is a 1997 graduate of Sioux City North High School.  This is the second time in Kalie’s outstanding collegiate career that she has been named NAIA National Player of the Week.  She also garnered NAIA National honors as a freshman in 1997.  Kalie is Dordt’s career goal leader with 61 and counting.
        Kalie is the daughter of James and Candy Gaskill of Sioux City, Iowa.

    Gaskill and Zommermaand are Soccer Players-of-the-Week
    (Week of October 8 - October 14, 2000)

        Kalie Gaskill and Kristin Zommermaand, both of Dordt, have been named the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Players-of-the-Week in women’s soccer for games played October 8-14.
        Gaskill, a senior forward from Sioux City, Iowa (North High School), is the GPAC Offensive Player-of-the-Week. She had three goals and four
    assists for Dordt in a 2-1 week. Gaskill dished out four assists in an 8-0 GPAC win over Midland Lutheran and scored two goals in a 6-1 conference triumph over
    Concordia. She also had a goal as the Defenders lost to NCAA Division II South Dakota, 3-2, in overtime. Zommermaand, a senior goalkeeper from Maurice,
    Iowa (Unity Christian High School), is the GPAC Defensive Player-of-the-Week. She posted her fourth shutout of the season against Midland. Zommermaand
    allowed three goals and recorded 12 saves in 270 minutes in goal on the week.
        Gaskill was also named NAIA Region IV Offensive Player-of-the-Week for her efforts.

    Van Der Kooi and Miller are Soccer Players-of-the-Week
    (Week of September 18 -September 23, 2000)

        Jessica Miller of Nebraska Wesleyan and Dordt’s Julie Van Der Kooi have been named the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Players-of-the-Week in women’s soccer for games played September 10-16.
        Van Der Kooi is the GPAC offensive player-of-the-week in women’s soccer. The sophomore forward from Chino, California (Ontario Christian), had one goal and one assist as the Defenders handed Dana its first loss of the season on the Vikings’ home field, 4-2.
