Sioux Center, Iowa (Unity Christian High School)
I was drawn to Dordt because of the football program. I really felt like I was wanted here and that I could contribute in many different ways. The social life here on campus is great too. There is a great Christian atmosphere.
I have really enjoyed all of the friends I have made. I know everyone on the football team and they are all a great group of guys. Also, living in the dorms has created many new friendships and there is always something to do with some of them. Some people see Sioux Center and think that there is nothing to do here. That is not true. There is always something going on here.
Dordt is a great Christian school; the other schools I was considering did not have what Dordt has. Dordt has a better campus, better atmosphere as far as social life, and better Christian people—especially in the football program. Some programs are only about winning and losing and not about who you are going to become. Dordt College teaches things from a Christian perspective. I really like the professors that are in my major.
Dordt College is different in that they want to make you better in more than one way. They want to make you a better athlete and a better person. They also put a high emphasis on education. Playing football is a privilege here and there aren't any loopholes. It makes you a more responsible person.
Coach is going to do whatever he can to make you better. He is always there to help and is not going to turn you down. He is also extremely concerned with how you are as an individual. He's not going to force you to do anything that you shouldn't be doing. He is going to take care of you. He will push you to be all that you can be.
