Mike Garner
Assistant Coach
Garner joined the Defender football coaching staff in 2009 as the offensive line coach. Garner has coached and taught for 30 years and was an offensive and defensive line coach at Grand Prairie High School in Grand Prairie, Texas before coming to Dordt. He also coached special teams and offensive and defensive line at Colleyville Heritage High School in Colleyville, Texas from 1996-2007.
Garner has been the head coach or staff member of one state finalist, one semifinalist, two regional finalists, six district champions and twelve playoff teams. Mike received his BA degree from Duke University in North Carolina, where he majored in History and minored in Education. He received his MA degree in Education from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas.
