2008 Dordt College Football: Meet The Team

	Jordan Alexander FR, Tulsa, Oklahoma 5-11, 205 pounds LB Played high school football at Owasso (Oklahoma) where he totaled 38 tackles as a senior.
	Darrin Beekman FR, Coon Rapids, Minnesota 6-3, 185 pounds WR Was used at defensive back and wide receiver in 2007 for Concordia Academy (Minnesota) and earned all conference honors as both a junior and senior. Was four-year starter and as team captain in 2007 while helping them to a Section 4AAA second place finish in 2007. Made 56 catches in 2007 for 693 yards�a 12.4 yards per catch average and scored nine touchdowns. In 29 career games Beekman made 95 catches for 1,262 yards and 14 touchdowns. On defense Beekman was in on 109 tackles in 2007 with four interceptions and one blocked punt. He was credited with 267 tackles in 38 games on defense and made 10 interceptions with three fumble recoveries.
	John Blair FR, Joshua, Texas 5-9, 210 pounds RB Was named all-district at linebacker for Joshua (Texas) in 2007 with 104 tackles, three sacks, eight tackles for loss and one interception. Gained 1,754 yards at running back.
	Thomas Blankenship FR, Aubrey, Texas 5-6, 135 pounds K Was a first-team all-state pick in 2006 and 2007 and was a second-team all-state pick in 2005 for American Heritage Academy (Texas). Connected on 201 of 220 extra points and was 10-13 on field goals through his career for 231 total points. Helped American Heritage Academy to a 2005 Texas State Championship.
	Bryan Booker FR, Joshua, Texas 6-2, 250 pounds OL Started at offensive guard in 2007 for Joshua (Texas). One of three Joshua players to commit to Dordt College at the same time.
	Austin Bosma FR, Hospers, Iowa 6-3, 180 pounds DB Spent time at wide receiver and defensive back at Unity Christian (Iowa) and earned all-district honors in Class 2A District 1 in 2007. Bosma had seven catches for 124 yards and was credited with 27 solo and 13 assisted tackles during his season. Bosma also had nine tackles for a loss, 5.5 sacks and six pass breakups.
	Alex Brabon FR, Colleyville, Texas 6-2, 165 pounds DB Made 33 catches during his senior season at Covenant Christian Academy (Texas) for 564 yards with seven touchdowns and was named Colleyville Heritage�s most valuable player while also claiming first team all-district offense and second team all-district defense where he played both safety and wide receiver. Also earned second team all-state honors on defense with 27 solo tackles, 48 assisted tackles and returned five interceptions for 160 yards and a touchdown. Brabon earned honorable mention all-district honors that season in 2006.
	Cody Browder FR, Alvarado, Texas 5-9, 235 pounds OL Played his high school football for Alvarado (Texas) and earned two letters and was team captain in 2007.
	Jack Brundell FR, Shoreview, Minnesota 6-0, 170 pounds LB Made 101 career tackles with three quarterback sacks and one blocked punt for the Mounds View (Minnesota) Mustangs. He was a team captain for the 2007 Mounds View team that was 6-2 in regular season play and won their sectional in post-season play and qualified for the state quarterfinals.
	Jack Bryant FR, Aledo, Texas 6-1, 160 pounds DB Prepped at Aledo (Texas) and played safety and wide receiver, Bryant earned first-team all-district honors at safety after piling up 98 tackles, two interceptions, seven pass break ups and two fumble recoveries. He was an all-Parker County pick and earned academic all-state honors this season. Bryant was also named an all-district safety in 2006 and had three interceptions with 54 tackles and three forced fumbles. Aledo High School advanced to the Texas Division AAAA state semifinals in both 2006 and 2007.
	Casey Burke FR, Coburg, Oregon 6-3, 300 pounds DL Slotted at offensive guard and defensive tackle for Henry D. Sheldon (Oregon) where he earned all-conference honors at defensive tackle in 2007 and was a part of a Oregon 6A state championship team. Served as team captain and earned four letters in his football career. Burke made 50 tackles in 2007�nine for loss with four sacks, two fumble recoveries and forced 12 quarterback hurries. Plans to throw the shot for Dordt in the spring.
	Isaiah Busby FR, Weatherford, Texas 5-11, 155 pounds DB Claimed first team all-District 4-5A honors in 2007 and was also named first-team all-Parker County at free safety while at Weatherford (Texas). Busby was in on 73 tackles in 2007 and made four interceptions and took defensive most valuable player honors.
	Jason Buxcel SO, Hutchinson, Minnesota 6-2, 270 pounds OL Was on the offensive line for the Defenders in 2007. Played tackle and guard for a Mayer Lutheran (Minnesota) football team that was 4-5 in 2006.
	Ryan Campbell JR, Fort Worth, Texas 6-3, 190 pounds WR Was Dordt�s leading receiver in 2007 with 27 catches for 265 yards and a long of 38 yards. Attended Baylor University (Texas) for two years and was on the Bears football team. He was named the Baylor scout team offensive threat of the week three times. Had experience in high school at both wide receiver and quarterback. Campbell is a graduate of Southwest Christian (Texas).
	Nathaniel Cordel SR, Cawker City, Kansas 5-11, 165 pounds WR Played two years of eight-man football at Lakeside (Kansas) and two years of 11-man football. Very versatile performer�played quarterback, running back, wide receiver, cornerback, safety and special teams in high school. Once scored six touchdowns in a game.
	Alex De Jager SO, Chowchilla, California 6-3, 250 pounds OL Played offensive line for the Defenders in 2007. Piled up 36 tackles and five quarterback sacks in 2006 at Chowchilla Union (California). He was named all-North Sequoia League and second team all-area as a senior and was voted the most valuable offensive lineman in the league his senior season.
	Aric Den Herder FR, Sioux Center, Iowa 6-0, 165 pounds WR Was a tight end and linebacker for Sioux Center High School in 2007 caught 11 passes for 98 yards with three touchdown catches. Made 13 solo tackles and assisted on eight.
	Seth Denton SO, Plattsmouth, Nebraska 6-3, 235 pounds OL Had ten tackles for a loss in 2007 while making five quarterback sacks�tied for tops on the team, and recovered two fumbles. Registered 12 solo and 14 assisted tackles over the course of the 2007 season. Had 56 tackles�fifteen of them solo, with three fumble recoveries for Bryan High School (Nebraska) in 2006. Was a first-team all-district honoree while also taking honorable mention accolades at the all-metro level in Omaha. Played in the King Kamehameha Pigskin classic in Honolulu, Hawaii and was a team captain at Bryan for four years.
	Chase Dieleman FR, Sully, Iowa 6-3, 200 pounds QB A quarterback at Pella Christian (Iowa), Dieleman completed 55 of 90 attempts in 2007 for 735 yards with seven touchdowns and a 13.4 yards per completion average. He also had 49 carries for 135 yards while helping Pella Christian to a 7-2 record. He passed for over 900 yards as a junior and completed eight passes for touchdown and ran for another three in 2006. Dieleman earned first team all-district honors in football in both 2006 and 2007 and was a second-team all-district pick both years as well.
	Zach Dierks SO, Colleyville, Texas 5-11, 245 pounds DL Was co-leader in sacks for the 2007 Defenders with five and was in on 14 solo and 18 assisted tackles. Was an honorable mention all-district performer in 2006 for Colleyville Heritage (Texas) while making 49 tackles and three quarterback sacks for a team that won bi-district, area and regional championships.
	Ben Dixon FR, Kingman, Kansas 6-0, 180 pounds QB Played quarterback for Kingman (Kansas) and earned all-Ark Valley Chisolm Trail League (AVCTL) Division IV honors in 2007. Passed for 1,650 yards and had 10 touchdown passes with two running touchdowns during his senior campaign.
	Derek Dreise SO, Sioux Center, Iowa 6-4, 245 pounds OL Played offensive line for the Defenders in 2007. Was an honorable mention all-district honoree as a senior at Unity Christian (Iowa ) while playing both on the offensive and defensive lines.
	Sam Du Mez FR, Brookfield, Wisconsin 6-5, 180 pounds WR A wide receiver at Milwaukee Lutheran (Wisconsin), Du Mez had 28 receptions for 402 yards and 8 touchdowns during the 2007 season. He averaged 14.36 yards per catch and totaled 50 points and earned honorable mention honors in the North Shore Conference in 2007.
	Jake Dykstra SO, Orange City, Iowa 6-2, 180 pounds DB Played in seven games at cornerback for the Defenders in 2007 while making 27 solo and 18 assisted tackles. Was in on five pass breakups and had three interceptions. Played running back and defensive back for Unity Christian (Iowa), earning first team all-district honors and took first-team, all-state academic honors.
	Beau Edwards FR, Dickinson, Texas 6-4, 250 pounds OL Played offensive line at Dickinson High School (Texas) where he was a regular for two seasons.
	Jeff Elgersma FR, Sanborn, Iowa 6-0, 190 pounds LB Played on both the offensive and defensive lines for the Western Christian (Iowa) Wolfpack and earned all-district honors in 2005 and again in 2006.
	Tony Engeltjes SR, Orange City, Iowa 6-0, 250 pounds OL Played defensive tackle on the 2007 Defender football team. Also throws the shot in the spring for Dordt College�s track and field team.
	Jake Esselink JR, Emo, Ontario 6-4, 235 pounds DL Made 18 solo tackles with 13 assisted stops in 2007 for the Defenders. Had 1.5 sacks and 6.5 tackles for a loss. Was also a part of Dordt�s national tournament qualifying hockey team in 2008. Earned most valuable player honors and defensive mvp honors at Fort Frances (Ontario).
	Reuben Faber SO, Escondido, California 6-4, 185 pounds K Handled the kickoffs for the Defenders in 2007. Attended Calvin Christian (California).
	Daniel Finley SO, Winchester, Kansas 6-2, 170 pounds DB Suffered a season ending injury in the 2007 pre-season camp. Led Jefferson County North (Missouri) in tackles as a junior and senior with 77 and 68 respectively and had four career interceptions. Second-team all-Delaware Valley League pick as a senior and earned honorable mention honors as a junior.
	Todd Green SO, Edmond, Oklahoma 6-2, 230 pounds OL Moved to center midway through 2007 and played in all eight games on the offensive line. Earned all-state, all-conference, all-district and all-city honors while playing for Edmond Memorial (Oklahoma).
	Ryan Haan SR, Pella, Iowa 6-2, 235 pounds TE Had a solo tackle and an assisted stop in 2007 for the Defenders before having his season cut short by an injury.
	Morgan Halpert SO, Southlake, Texas 6-0, 185 pounds LB Suffered an injury at the beginning of Dordt�s seventh game of the season against Morningside that kept him out of the season finale. Had 16 solo tackles and two interceptions in the secondary for the 2007 Defenders. Also played baseball in the spring for Dordt. Multi-sport standout at Covenant Christian (Texas) where he took first-team all-state honors while making 25 catches for 344 yards and compiling 43 carries for 247 yards. He also completed 33-61 passes for 992 yards. Halpert recorded 43 tackles at defensive back.
	David Harrold FR, Edmond, Oklahoma 6-5, 250 pounds OL Earned academic all-state honors in 2004 and 2007 at Oklahoma Christian High School and was an all-city first-team selection on the offensive line while also being a Class A all-district 2 offensive line pick.
	Alex Henderson FR, Mesquite, Texas 5-10, 150 pounds WR Earned first-team all-district honors at cornerback for the Parish Episcopal Panthers (Texas) after making 21 solo tackles and assisting on 33 with nine pass breakups. Henderson also earned 2nd team all-district honors at wide receiver where he made 17 catches for 388 yards�a 22.8 yards per game average with nine touchdown catches. Henderson claimed honorable mention all-state honors and played in the Tom Hillary Classic. Henderson anticipates running track for Dordt in the spring.
	Zach Henderson FR, Weatherford, Texas 6-1, 170 pounds DB Excelled at cornerback for Weatherford (Texas). Had 32 tackles, 10 assisted tackles, nine pass break-ups and four interceptions while earning Texas 5A all-district honors. He was also named all-Parker County and was twice the Weatherford game mvp this season. At the conclusion of the season Henderson was named Weatherford�s most valuable defensive back and was a 2007 academic all-district pick.
	Jason Hengeveld FR, Sheldon, Iowa 6-2, 240 pounds TE Earned three letters for the Western Christian (Iowa) Wolfpack and earned all-district honors as a junior in 2006 and honorable mention accolades as a senior in 2007.
	Jim Hondred FR, Altoona, Iowa 6-1, 175 pounds LB Played running back and linebacker for the Grandview Park Baptist Defenders (Iowa). Hondred was the captain of a 9-2 2007 District Champion team and earned second-team all-state honors at linebacker. Was voted the team�s offensive most valuable player twice and defensive mvp once during his four-year letter-winning career.
	Brandon Huisman SO, Orange City, Iowa 6-4, 230 pounds TE Had a catch for 14 yards for the 2007 Defenders. Was a part of Unity Christian�s (Iowa) first football team. Played junior varsity for a season before acting as a student coach as a senior while Unity played out it�s second season of junior varsity football. Served as a team captain on the initial team in 2004.
	Drew Hummel FR, Weatherford, Texas 6-5, 230 pounds OL Earned academic all-district honors along with first-team all-county and second-team all-district honors in 2007 at Weatherford (Texas). Hummel was named as a �Player to Watch� in Texas 5A football in 2007 and played both offensive left tackle and defensive end at Weatherford High School.
	Tyler Jacobsma FR, Orange City, Iowa 5-9, 160 pounds DB Was a all-district academic performer for Unity Christian (Iowa) while helping the Knights to a 5-4 2007 record.
	Dan Jansen SO, Chino, California 5-9, 215 pounds LB Played in all eight games for the Defenders in 2007 with 17 solo tackles and 14 assisted stops. Had one fumble recovery. Took all Christian League first-team honors as a senior at Ontario Christian (California) in 2006. Totaled 276 tackles during his career with 20 tackles for loss with five quarterback sacks and four forced fumbles. Was an all-CIF pick as a junior and senior.
	Justin Knot FR, Hudsonville, Michigan 6-2, 190 pounds QB Quarterbacked at Unity Christian (Michigan) and was his team�s captain while passing for 700 yards in 11 games. Had seven touchdown passes in leading Unity to their first ever winning season and playoff appearance.
	Braden Kooiker FR, Sioux Center, Iowa 6-3, 230 pounds OL Was a two-time academic letter recipient while playing football for Sioux Center (Iowa). Played left tackle for the Warriors.
	Scott Kraayenbrink JR, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 6-7, 190 pounds WR A Cedar Rapids Prairie (Iowa) graduate, Kraayenbrink spent two seasons on the Dordt College tennis team before joining the Defender football program.
	Brice Kroeze FR, Orange City, Iowa 6-2, 245 pounds LB Played linebacker and offensive guard for the Unity Christian (Iowa) Knights. Garnered first-team all-district honors in Class 2A District one on defense and earned academic all-district honors in 2007 as well. Kroeze was named Unity�s defensive most valuable player in helping the Knights to a 5-4 record in their second year of varsity football. Had an interception and a blocked kick in 2007.
	David Laverman FR, Kellogg, Iowa 6-2, 180 pounds LB Was a linebacker at Pella Christian (Iowa) where he helped Pella Christian to a 7-2 record this season. Pella Christian fielded a varsity team for the first time during Laverman�s junior season.
	Matthew Laverman SR, Kellogg, Iowa 6-0, 195 pounds WR Suffered a season ending injury during the 2007 pre-season camp. Played a year of football at Pella Christian (Iowa) before attending Dordt College.
	Nathan Law FR, Alvarado, Texas 6-0, 275 pounds OL Earned 1st team all-district 8-4A honors and was a 2nd team all-state academic honoree at Alvarado (Texas). Law earned all-Johnson County honors in 2007 and was an Old Spice Player of the Year nominee.
	Fred Leyendekker SR, Visalia, California 6-0, 215 pounds LB Proved to be one of Dordt�s more versatile players in 2007 when he had five pass interceptions�three of them returned for touchdowns, had six punt returns for 52 yards and had 11 punts for a 35.3 average. Made a total of 21 solo tackles and 14 assisted tackles. Earned first-team all-league honors for the East Sierra League while playing for Central Valley Christian (California). He was the conference most valuable player in 2005 and was a wide receiver at the College of the Sequoias in 2006.
	Dalton Love FR, Weatherford, Texas 6-0, 315 pounds OL Earned second-team all-district and all-county honors in 2007 at Weatherford (Texas) and was named to the academic all-district team. He was named the lineman of the year at Weatherford and served as his team�s captain.
	David Lumbert FR, Aurora, Illinois 6-0, 230 pounds OL An offensive lineman at Aurora Christian (Illinois), was a part of a team that was 11-0 in 2007 and outscored their opponents 487-99. Lumbert earned two varsity letters for the Eagles and was coached by former NFL wide receiver Don Beebe who is now the head coach at Aurora Christian.
	Brendan Lyle SO, Tulsa, Oklahoma 6-0, 240 pounds OL Hampered by injury, Lyle�s only action was in the final game of the 2007 season against Northwestern. Was voted Bishop Kelley�s (Oklahoma) lineman of the year in 2006.
	Will McClain FR, Miller, South Dakota 5-11, 155 pounds DB A safety and quarterback at Sunshine Bible Academy (South Dakota), McClain made 133 tackles with five interceptions on defense and completed 155-285 passes for 2,205 yards for 25 touchdowns and rushed for 1,594 yards on 489 carries with 19 touchdowns on the ground. Earned academic all-state honors and was a first team all-281 Conference honoree as a senior and earned honorable mention from the 281 conference in 2006. Was the team captain in 2007.
	Tagg McNeel FR, Joshua, Texas 5-8, 165 pounds WR McNeel had 41 catches for 412 yards in 2007 and gained 174 yards on the ground on 21 carries for Joshua High School (Texas). McNeel also helped a shorthanded defense by recording 37 tackles and spent time returning kickoffs and punts for the Owls. McNeel will run track for the Defenders in the spring.

	Chris Minnema SO, Visalia, California 6-1, 185 pounds CB Had three pass interceptions in 2007 and made 33 solo tackles with 14 assisted stops and was credited with 11 pass breakups. Played defensive back and wide receiver at Central Valley Christian (California) and earned first team all-league honors three times.
	PJ Mitchell FR, Norman, Oklahoma 6-2, 275 pounds OL Played on both the offensive and defensive line at Norman (Oklahoma) and also saw time at linebacker and fullback. Mitchell earned three letters in football at Norman and earned two letters in wrestling. He earned 6A all-conference honors in 2007 and was a member of the Norman High School Honor Society.
	Grant Mowery FR, Owasso, Oklahoma 6-0, 190 pounds TE A standout at Owasso (Oklahoma), Mowery made 14 catches for 178 yards in 2007 for a 12.7 yards per catch average at tight end. Claimed first-team all-district honors at Owasso High School and served as team captain for the Rams in 2007. He was named the Jon Kolb award winner for leadership, athletic ability and academic excellence.
	Josh Nollmeyer FR, Savage, Montana 6-0, 160 pounds DB Earned all-state second-team honors on special teams, running back and defensive back while playing for Savage (Montana) and was a first-team all-conference pick in 2007 as well. Was an all-conference honoree in 2005 and 2006 at defensive back and earned honorable mention at quarterback in 2006. Nollmeyer also claimed first-team all-conference honors in basketball at Savage in 2008.
	Josh Ontiveros FR, Grand Prairie, Texas 5-10, 165 pounds DB Played both quarterback and defensive back at Grand Prairie High School (Texas).
	Brent Owens JR, Phoenix, Arizona 5-10, 175 pounds DB Played mostly on special teams for the 2007 Defenders. Attended Phoenix Christian (Arizona).
	Stephen Pederson FR, Gretna, Nebraska 6-3, 210 pounds LB Played fullback and defensive end at Gretna (Nebraska). Earned academic all-conference honors.
	Dan Poel JR, Orange City, Iowa 6-4, 240 pounds DL One of three Defenders who were a part of Unity�s first ever football team in 2004.
	Matt Postmus FR, Kalamazoo, Michigan 6-2, 190 pounds LB A 2007 Kalamazoo Christian (Michigan) graduate, Postmus played linebacker, punter, punt returner, wide receiver and running back for the Comets and was a two-way starter for three seasons. Postmus recorded 60 tackles and had six pass interceptions at outside linebacker and served as team captain in 2007 while spearheading a defense that gave up just 52 points. Rushed for over 1,000 yards and scored 20 touchdowns on the ground. Postmus had five punt and kick returns for touchdowns in his three seasons of varsity play. Was an all-conference honoree as a junior and senior and was a member of the all-area team in 2007.
	Derek Raebel SR, Emerald, Wisconsin 6-2, 220 pounds TE Played two years of basketball at Dordt College before joining the Defender football program in 2007.
	Stephan Regnerus FR, Doon, Iowa 6-0, 245 pounds OL Played two years on the offensive line for the Western Christian (Iowa) Wolfpack.
	Ben Robbins JR, Floyd, Iowa 5-10, 190 pounds RB Ran for 473 yards in 131 carries in 2007 for a 3.6 average with one touchdown scored in 2007. Played a year of football for North Iowa Area Community College, appearing in 10 games. Piled up 1,133 yards of rushing in his senior season at Charles City (Iowa) where he earned all-district first-team honors twice and all-area honors once.
	James Rowenhorst FR, Orange City, Iowa 6-2, 165 pounds DB Had three interceptions for the Unity Christian (Iowa) defense in 2007 and was a first-team all-district pick in 2007 after taking second-team honors in 2006. Also played quarterback on offense and plans to play basketball at Dordt College as well.
	Phillip Sears FR, McKinney, Texas 6-2, 190 pounds DB Signed with Dordt College out of McKinney Boyd (Texas) where he made 70 solo tackles, four interceptions and forced two fumbles. Played on special teams where he accounted for four blocked field goals and one blocked punt for the Broncos in 2007. Sears was a major component in McKinney Boyd�s turnaround from 0-10 in 2006 to 7-3 and a berth in the Texas 4A playoffs in 2007. Sears earned all-McKinney, all-district and all-county first team (4A/5A) honors in 2007 along with being named to the Elite 11 city team.
	Lonnie Seigers FR, Fort Worth, Texas 5-9, 180 pounds LB Spent time at linebacker and running back at Calvary Christian Academy (Texas) and was credited with 280 career tackles and rushed for over 1,500 yards. He earned first-team all-district honors at linebacker in 2007 and was a second-team pick at running back as a senior as well. Seigers was named to the first-team all-district honors at linebacker as a sophomore and junior and was second-team pick as a freshman. Seigers also plans to throw the shot for the Defender track and field team.
	Adam Shirley JR, Waterloo, Iowa 6-3, 215 pounds QB Completed 53-132 passes for 575 yards in eight games played in 2007. Quarterbacked at Waterloo West (Iowa) and was on the North Iowa Area Community College football team in 2006.
	Nick Sohre SO, Princeton, Minnesota 6-3, 210 pounds K Had 34 punts in 2007 for a 33.5 average and was 3-7 in field goals with a long of 36 yards. Took Rum River Conference special teams player of the year honors as a senior while punting and kicking for Milaca (Minnesota). Was also an academic all-conference honoree.
	Tyler Te Grotenhuis SO, Orange City, Iowa 6-3, 215 pounds TE A 2007 MOC Floyd Valley (Iowa) graduate, Te Grotenhuis earned all-district honors in Class 3A District 1 as a junior and senior in 2005 and 2006 while playing defensive line and center.
	Dan Tinklenberg JR, Soux Center, Iowa 6-2, 185 pounds LB Credited with six solo and six assisted tackles in 2007 while getting in on a sack and had a pass break-up. Played running back and defensive back for Unity Christian (Iowa) when they started their program in 2004.
	Eric Torgerson FR, Blackfoot, Idaho 6-2, 240 pounds DL Was a defensive end, tight end and fullback for Blackfoot High School (Idaho) while earning first-team all-state honors at defensive end and was named the High Country Conference defensive player of the year after making 92 tackles and accumulating 18 quarterback sacks in 2007. Claimed second-team all-state honors in 2006 and earned all-conference first team honors at defensive end in 2006 and 2007 and was a honorable mention selection as a fullback (2007) and a second-team all-conference pick in 2006 at tight end. Torgenson plans to play baseball for the Defenders in the spring.
	Bradley Trimm FR, Cicero, New York 6-0, 200 pounds QB Quarterbacked at Bishop Grimes High School (New York). In 2007 he had 195 completions in nine games played for 2,444 yards, 21 touchdowns and a 272 passing yards per game average. Trimm led the state of New York in total yardage, yards per game and total completions and was selected to participate in the Section 3 John Arcaro All-Star Game. He was a first-team all-league, Class D selection and he earned the US Army Reserve National Scholar-Athlete Award at the conclusion of the 2007-2008 school year.
	Mitch Valley FR, Norman, Oklahoma 6-3, 250 pounds DL An offensive and defensive lineman, Valley earned all-conference honors in 2004 and was an all-district honoree in 2007 at Norman High School (Oklahoma).
	Chris Van Dam SO, Orange City, Iowa 6-0, 215 pounds LB Played in eight games in 2007 on defense with eight tackles and one forced fumble. A 2007 Unity Christian (Iowa) graduate, Van Dam earned honorable mention all-district honors and was in on seven solo tackles and 11 assisted stops at linebacker.
	Gerrit Van Leeuwen SO, Hanford, California 6-4, 210 pounds LB Was credited with three solo and ten assisted tackles for the Defenders in 2007. Played on two Valley championship teams at Central Valley Christian (California) where he was a three-year starter.
	Brayden Van Sant FR, Sully, Iowa 6-4, 270 pounds DL Spent time at defensive end and defensive tackle for Pella Christian (Iowa). Earned all-district honorable mention in 2007 for the Eagles in Class 2A.
	Kyle Van Wyk JR, Grinnell, Iowa 6-0, 170 pounds WR Played in five games for the Defenders in 2007 while making four solo and three assisted tackles. Played two seasons of football at Pella Christian and had a team high 23 receptions in 2005 and made 42 tackles.
	Joey Vander Schaaf SO, Escalon, California 6-0, 180 pounds WR Did a little of everything for the Defenders in 2007. Was 6-7 passing for 32 yards. Had 39 carries for 186 yards and had eight catches for 151 yards. Played running back and wide receiver at Ripon Christian (California) while earning Mountain Valley all-conference honors in 2007. Played in the 33rd annual Lions All-Star Football Classic.
	Austin Vanderham FR, Ontario, California 6-1, 255 pounds DL Was both offensive guard and defensive tackle for Ontario Christian (California). Made 132 tackles during his career along with ten quarterback sacks and 28 tackles for loss. He earned all-league and all-CIF honors as a junior and was named league defensive mvp and was all-CIF and took team mvp and lineman of the year accolades in 2007.
	Joe Vryhof FR, High River, Alberta 5-11, 175 pounds DB Was named the most valuable player for the Highwood (Alberta) football team in 2005, 2006 and 2007 and was a member of two divisional championship teams. Vryhof was chosen as Highwood�s male athlete of the year twice.
	Scotty Walden FR, Cleburne, Texas 5-10, 175 pounds QB Walden threw for 2,400 yards and 16 touchdowns during his career at Cleburne (Texas). Rushed for 450 yards and nine touchdowns while earning first-team all-county honors as a senior. Was a team captain in 2007 and was named Cleburne�s most valuable player. As a junior Walden claimed honorable mention District 8-4A honors while being named the Johnson County newcomer of the year. He also was named to the academic all-district team as a senior.
	Chris Walker FR, Boone, Iowa 6-0, 240 pounds LB Lettered twice at Colo-Nesco High School (Iowa) while playing defensive end and defensive tackle. He had 26 tackles and 14 assisted stops during 2006.
	Ryan Whitworth FR, Cleburne, Texas 6-0, 205 pounds LB Made 59 solo tackles and assisted on 52 in 2007 for Joshua (Texas) in 2007 with one sack and forced three fumbles with two interceptions.
	Jeremy Zeutenhorst FR, Hawarden, Iowa 6-0, 215 pounds RB Gained 778 yards on the ground and 116 yards receiving for 894 all-purpose yards while playing running back for Western Christian (Iowa). Zeutenhorst had two games where he gained over 150 yards. Zeutenhorst also played linebacker for the Wolfpack. He plans to play basketball at Dordt College as well.
