Josh Boyer--Prepped at Hurley (SD) High School where he is the career scoring leader with 1557 points and assist leader with 412. Averaged 20 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5 assists per game as a senior in earning conference mvp honors.
Coach Van Soelen says: Josh is a very good athlete who played football and basketball in high school. He's got a college-type body already and is very good at taking the ball to the basket.

Jim Brinks--Jim appeared in all but one of the Defenders games as a sophomore, scoring 4.5 points per game and grabbing 1.4 rebounds per contest. Averaged 9.7 points per game as a freshman on the JV team.
Coach Van Soelen says: Jim had a very solid year as sophomore. He showed us he can score and has a nice touch. We'll need his help in rebounding.

Sean Coon--Averaged 14.8 points per game and two assists per game for 2003 JV team.
Coach Van Soelen says: Sean has a year in the system and has worked hard in the off-season to improve his shooting.

Brian Eekhoff--Earned all-state honors prepping at Manhatten (MT) Christian High School. Averaged 17 points and 11 rebounds per game as a senior.
Coach Van Soelen says: Brian is a big young man who will make his presence felt on the inside by using his size. Very good hands and runs the floor well for a big man.

Brandon Haan--Started the last 19 games for the Defenders and averaged 10.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per game in 2003-2004. Made 61 percent of his shots from the floor. As a freshman Haan averaged 13 points and 8.3 rebounds per game for the JV team.
Coach Van Soelen says: BJ had a good year as a sophomore. He stepped into a starting role midway through the season and we'll look to him as one of our main offensive options this year.

Dan Hospers--Started 27 games for the Defenders as a junior when he averaged 4.6 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. Had his season cut short by injury as a sophomore when he played in 18 games, starting 14. He averaged 4.1 points and 3.3 rebounds per game in that year. Started 14 games as a freshman when he averaged 4.4 points and 4.1 rebounds per game.
Coach Van Soelen says: Dan is the hardest working kid I've ever had as a coach here. He goes full tilt all the time and gives us strength in rebounding and defense. He has worked to improve his offense.

Chad Huenink--Averaged 15 points per game and 10 rebounds per game, earning all-conference and all-state honors while prepping at Brookfield (WI) East High School.
Coach Van Soelen says: Chad is a 6'6" athletic kid who can get up and down the floor. He's extremely quick underneath the basket and is capable of hitting the perimeter shot.

Derek Keizer--Played valuable minutes as a freshman, seeing time in all 28 Dordt College games. Averaged 4.2 points and three assists per game.
Coach Van Soelen says: Derek started some games for us as a freshman. His strongest assets are the ability to push the ball and see the floor.

Aubrey Kooistra--Aubrey is a transfer student who will have to adjust to the college game after taking a year off from organized basketball.
Coach Van Soelen says: Aubrey's a good point guard who sees the floor well and takes pride in his passing.

Luke Ruter--Averaged 15.9 points per game and 6.1 rebounds per game while garnering all-GPAC first team honors and NAIA honorable mention All-American honors as a sophomore. Made 49 percent of his shots from the floor. As a freshman he started 19 games and averaged 9.3 points and 3.9 rebounds per game while taking All-GPAC honorable mention honors.
Coach Van Soelen says: Luke has a chance to be one of the best players in the league this year. He's an excellent shooter, and led us in rebounding last year. He's a player who can do it all.

Kris Vander Kooy--played in 18 games for the Defenders last year. Also saw time on the JV team where he averaged 9.8 points per game.
Coach Van Soelen says: Kris offers us some flexibility. He can play the point or shooting guard. He'll provide an outside shooting threat for us.

Eric Van Maanen--Averaged 21 points and 3.7 rebounds per game for Western Christian High School as a senior while earning All-Conference and All-State honors.
Coach Van Soelen says: Eric is extremely quick and athletic. He can play either of the guard spots for us.

Bret Van Wyk--Started 28 games for Dordt College as a junior in earning all-conference honorable mention honors. Averaged 13.4 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. As a sophomore Van Wyk appeared in 27 games, averaging 4.9 points and 2.3 rebounds per contest. Played in 26 games as a freshman when he averaged 4.5 points and 2.4 rebounds.
Coach Van Soelen says: Bret is probably our most athletic player. He runs the floor well and is a gifted jumper. He was one of our best players down the stretch last year.

Andy Wood--A transfer student, Andy will be eligible for play during the second semester.
Coach Van Soelen says: Andy brings us outside shooting capabilities and also has the ability to break people down off the dribble.

Greg Van Soelen--Has been the head men's basketball coach at Dordt College since 1995 while accumulating a 139-113 coaching record. Served as an assistant coach at Dordt College for two years before taking over the head coaching duties. Still holds numerous Dordt College basketball records and was inducted into the Iowa Basketball Players Hall of Fame at the 2003 boys' state basketball tournament. Greg also works as an admissions counselor at Dordt College.
