2010 BASEBALL

Before Dordt…Prepped at Sprague High School where he won pitcher of the year honors as a junior…had a 3.46 ERA in 2008 and was 11-5 during his first two years of high school varsity play… recorded 74 strikeouts in 137 innings.

2009…Saw action in one game for the Defenders in his freshman season.

Before Dordt...Batting average of .342 as a senior at Boca Raton High School (Florida)....had 27 hits in 90 at-bats with 11 walks, 12 runs batted in...smashed five doubles, two triples and one homerun with 14 stolen bases...team was 24-6 and won a district championship in 2009.

Before Dordt...Byl earned three letters in baseball at Unity Christian High School…had 22 hits in 2009 with 21 runs scored, 17 runs batted in, nine doubles and 10 stolen bases…batted .333 in 2008 and .400 in 2007.

2009...Was 3-4 on the mound but closed the season on the upswing...pitched 41 1/3 innings with 17 strikeouts.

2008...Kept improving as the 2008 season went along and became one of Dordt’s more reliable starters by the end of the season...was 4-1 with a 5.06 earned run average in seven appearances with three complete games in 2008...earned all-GPAC honorable mention...struck out 17 in 37 1/3 innings during his sophomore season.

2007...Appeared on the mound 4 times and had 1 start as a freshman...totaled 11 innings and had 5 strikeouts.

2009...Started and played in all 43 games for the Defenders and batted .335 with 53 hits...led the team in hits and runs scored with 40...had nine doubles and four homeruns...took all-GPAC honorable mention honors and his hit total was the second highest in school history and runs scored was second all-time as well...ranks 12th all-time with 102 hits and has 79 runs scored which ranks 7th currently.

2008...Had a breakout season in 2008 with a .352 batting average with 38 hits, six doubles and 18 runs batted in with 25 runs scored and ten stolen bases...was accorded all-GPAC honorable mention at the conclusion of the 2008 season...played in 33 games for the Defenders during his sophomore campaign.

2007...Played in 24 games and started 15 in the outfield as a freshman...had a .229 batting average with 11 hits and four RBI.

Before Dordt…played a season of baseball at GPAC member Doane College in 2008.

Before Dordt…prepped at Bourgade Catholic (Arizona)…had a .448 batting average, 43 hits, 38 runs scored, 27 runs batted in, 15 doubles and one triple with one homerun.

Before Dordt...Played in 85 games at Basha (Arizona) High School and has a career .363 batting average with 79 hits and 54 runs scored...played third base during his career and has handled 94.8 percent of his chances in the field with nine errors in 174 plays...pitched 139 career innings in 30 appearances while posting a 15-8 record and 105 strikeouts.

2009…pitched 14 innings in eight appearances for the Defenders with eight strikeouts.

Before Dordt…played high school ball at Johnston High School (Iowa)….was a part of a 2008 state title team.

Before Dordt…batted .345 in 2008 for Desert Chapel High School in Palm Springs, California…had 20 hits and scored 20 runs with seven doubles.

2009...Hit .289 and had a team high and school record 13 doubles with two triples and two homeruns with 12 runs batted in...played 39 games for the Defenders in his junior season.

2008...Played second base for the Defenders most of 2008 and batted .298 with 25 hits, eight doubles and a team high three homeruns with ten runs batted in.

2007-Started all 10 games played as a freshman in 2007...had a .188 average in 32 at-bats...recorded six hits, batted in three and had a triple.

2009...Pitched, caught and played designated hitter for Dordt during his freshman season...batted .279 with 29 hits, four doubles and 17 runs batted in.
