The Jazz Band is an auditioned group of 15 to 20 instrumentalists who perform a wide variety of jazz compositions. (A vocalist is also on cue for vocal numbers.) Often requested to play at community events, the jazz band has performed extensively, including performances with the virtuoso jazz trumpeter Rex Richardson, trombonist Tom Brantley, and percussionist, David Gluck, all members of the exciting professional ensemble, Rhythm & Brass. The band is directed by Robert Horton.

The Jazz Band has also been a part of several recent music tours.

If you are interested in visiting a rehearsal of the Dordt College Jazz Band, they take place in the band room Wednesday evenings from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Prospective students are encouraged to apply for scholarships and to submit an audition form. More information can also be found in the syllabus or in Dordt's catalog.
