Concert Band

The Concert Band is a select group of about 50 to 60 instrumentalists who perform wind and percussion masterworks and premiere new compositions and arrangements. The ensemble has gained a reputation for performances that are extremely expressive and beautiful, as well as technically sound.

Their director, Dr. Henry Duitman, has conducted the band since 1985, during which time Dordt's wind ensemble program grew to include the Campus-Community Band and Jazz Band.

Recent repertoire includes:
  • Puszta by Van der Roost
  • Chorale and Alleluia by Hanson
  • Overture to 'Colas Breugnon' by Kabalevsky
  • Festive Overture by Shostakovich
  • Fervent is My Longing by Bach
  • American Elegy by Ticheli
  • Variants on a Mediaeval Tune by Dello Joio
  • Lincolnshire Posy by Grainger
  • Chester by Schuman
  • Overture to 'Candide' by Bernstein
  • O Magnum Mysterium by Lauridsen/Reynolds
  • Suite of Old American Dances by Bennett
