Bethany Schuttinga, Associate Provost of Co-curricular Programs at Dordt College said, "The scholarship, leadership experience and passion that Pastor Baart brings to ministry programs will be a tremendous addition to our campus culture. GPAC Adjusts Athletic Schedules

The Dordt College athletic program has seen its 2010-2011 school year schedules changed due to the closing of Dana College and the subsequent reduction of teams in the Great Plains Athletic Conference from 13 to 12. Three sports, football, volleyball and basketball, have adjusted their schedule to reflect an even number of games played in the conference schedule. This balance did not exist without completely re-working the schedules.

"With the loss of Dana College the league needed to look at these three sports immediately and adjustments were made to gain back the lost games because of the unbalanced conference schedule these sports play," said GPAC Commissioner Corey Westra. "We needed to use the membership numbers we have in place to fill the open spots on the schedule at this late date instead of our schools scrambling for extra dates." "We also wanted our conference schedule games to be even for all the teams in the league," added Westra.

"The loss of a vigorous young man in the midst of a joy-filled excursion is a tragedy that stuns our whole campus," said Dordt College President Carl E. Zylstra. "Brandon was an integral part of our campus, whether in the classroom, on the basketball court, or as part of our summer maintenance team."
