Program Dates: January 11-May 9, 2008 Please arrange to be at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport by 1:00 p.m. on Friday January 11, 2008. Aloïsa, the SPICE Program Coordinator, will meet you at Schiphol and accompany you (by train to Zwolle). The program will end with the last day of classes on May 9, 2008. Please note: housing will not be available before Jan. 11, 2008 or after May 10, 2008. Cost: Approximately $11,950 (U.S.) - tentative, subject to change based on Euro/USD exchange rate.
The program fee includes tuition, fees, room and board, I.S.I.C. card, program related excursions including a week-long trip to Aix-en-Provence in southern France and course trips, a bicycle for use during the program, and transportation to/from Amsterdam Schiphol airport. Please note, airfare to the Netherlands is not included in the program fee. You must arrange your own transportation. After acceptance into the program a $350 (US) non-refundable deposit is due by Nov. 15, 2007 to secure your place in the program. This deposit will be credited toward the cost of the program. Students from cooperating colleges pay for the program through their home school. Additional expenses include books and supplies (approximately $250), personal expenses and independent travel. On average, students spend about $150 per week over the course of the program. Housing:
Students will live in Dutch homes throughout the program. You will be able to indicate some preferences for type of family setting (e.g. single household, children etc.) that we will try to accommodate. The family will provide your meals. If possible, we will provide you with your host family's name and address/email in early January. You will receive the SPICE Handbook (mid-December), which will provide additional information about the program, travel tips, program policies, tentative semester schedule (with scheduled breaks) and contact information for Zwolle. Financial Aid
Dordt students are eligible for additional scholarships for cross-cultural programs. Dordt students should contact Barb Schaap in the Financial Aid Office for details. Participants from other institutions, which have a cooperative arrangement with Dordt, should contact their own financial aid officer for information on financial aid.
