Students will have the opportunity to study both traditional and modern China, to experience life in its capital Beijing, and to explore other areas of this fascinating country.

York, England

Starting in spring 2008, the Britain program will be moving to York, England, where students will take 2 courses taught by Calvin professor Jamie Smith and other courses at York St. John University.

The Development Studies in Honduras *
Honduras

This program seeks to integrate faith commitment with academic study. The director will lead discussions, both formal and informal, which encourage students to think and to live as Christians in God’s world. Students study development theory and Honduran history in class and put that theory to the test by observing life in their own Honduran family, by visiting U.S. banana plantations and seeing where the money from the plantation goes, and by carrying out an evaluation of a specific development program.

Study in Hungary at Technical University of Budapest *
Budapest, Hungary

The Hungary program is structured for students to live and study together as a Christian academic community. While doing so, they develop and mature by experiencing a situation different from the familiar, by learning under a variety of teaching styles, by encountering a new set of behaviors and beliefs, and by drawing from course offerings and academic expertise unavailable elsewhere.

Study in New Mexico at Rehoboth Christian School *
Rehoboth

Native American society in the Southwest provides students with an exceptional opportunity to encounter an alternative culture. Through exploration of Native American culture, students will achieve a degree of liberation from the insularity of their familiar culture and forcefully challenge stereotypical patterns of thinking. Students arrive at a deeper self-understanding and a greater respect for cultures other than their own.

Study in France *
Grenoble, France

Living with French families in Grenoble, which is nestled in the French Alps, students study French with other foreign students from around the world. The CUEF offers excursions to other regions throughout the academic year to acquaint students with the wide variety of historical, natural, and cultural forces that have shaped contemporary France.

Study in Africa *
Ghana

The semester in Ghana program will help students understand the emerging theological, historical and social perspectives within Ghana and throughout sub-Saharan Africa. As students enter into dialogue with Ghanaians and study the history and peoples of the country, they will encounter world views different from those prevalent in North America.
