The Studies Program in Contemporary Europe (SPICE) is a semester-long program in partnership with the Gereformeerde Hogeschool, a school in the Reformed tradition situated in Zwolle, Netherlands. SPICE students live with families and have many opportunities to interact with Dutch students as they study in one of four tracks: Dutch Language Studies, Dutch Area Studies, International Business, and International Ministries (with the 2nd half semester in Kiev, Ukraine). Living and studying in a Christian community, SPICE students explore what faith means to them and how it affects their relationships with persons from other countries.

"On a recent visit to the SPICE program, I was struck again by the enthusiasm and energy generated when North American students study outside of their home culture. What particularly impressed me was the way students from a wide range of Christian colleges enrolled in the program interacted with the Dordt College students and professors. Students appreciated the experience of living with host families as well as the cultural excursions. They also seemed genuinely engaged in the academic pursuits of their chosen course work. Dimensions were added to these courses that could never be achieved on our home campus. As president of Dordt College I am convinced that this program offers a significant educational experience that would be hard to replicate elsewhere."
