A great need for qualified nurses currently exists, with the shortage expected to grow even larger as baby boomers age, their need for health care grows, and more nurses retire from the work force.
The Department of Labor projects that the U.S. will need one million new and replacement nurses by 2012. Registered Nursing (R.N.) is at the top of the U.S. Labor Department’s list for projected job growth through 2012.
Another growing trend is hospitals and health centers looking for more highly educated nurses, with some requiring a B.S.N. (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) degree in addition to R.N. licensure.

The nursing program at Dordt College has been designed accordingly. Students in our innovative program are qualified to test for R.N. licensure in just three years, and with one additional year can earn a B.S.N. degree.
This exciting educational opportunity provides nurses with a strong background in the sciences, current health care issues, cross cultural care, and preparation for nursing practice, leadership, and management. Dordt graduates have enjoyed a 100 percent employment rate, and 100 percent of those applying to graduate school have also been accepted.
