Program Options
Core courses in the computer science major include structured programming, the principles and design of information systems, the principles of computer networks, and the organization of a computer system.
After completing the core courses, students choose 10 additional courses with faculty approval, including at least five Computer Science courses, with selections based on personal interests, abilities, and goals.
- Systems Administration—Prepares you to supervise an organization's computer system or for programming.
- Information Systems—Enables you to serve in an organization using and adapting software written by others and also provides an understanding of the many types of uses for databases.
- Hardware—Prepares you for work in hardware design and application.
- Biotechnology—In conjunction with the science department, this option will prepare you for work in computer-based genetic sequence research and analysis.
- Web Software Development—This option will give you the tools to design, implement, and work with web-based software, as well as instruction in both browser and server-side languages and tools.
