Is the way the world works a matter of chance, or does it reveal the hand of an all-powerful God? At Dordt College, professors and students share the conviction that the study of chemistry, physics and astronomy is the exploration of God-created order in the physical aspect of the universe.
Students are encouraged to see the wonder and beauty of this world as God’s creativity, not just the interesting results of accidents. You will learn to view science as God-ordained human activity and to understand its place in Christian life. You will be challenged to use what you learn for the glory of God and the good of creation, not for selfish or destructive ends. And you will gain a background that will help you confront and withstand the challenges of secular and unbiblical thinking.
You don’t have to sacrifice academic excellence to get a Christian perspective on your studies. Dordt graduates who go on to further education routinely report they feel fully as well-prepared as their peers from larger schools. Dordt’s faculty is highly trained and experienced, and you’ll enjoy the advantage of small class sizes where students and faculty work closely together. Professors are also readily available to help outside of class.
In addition to course work, most majors serve the department as laboratory or course assistants, combining work-study income with on-the-job training in research and teaching. Some majors have worked one-on-one with professors in research projects, resulting in papers published in scholarly journals.
