As you make your choice from an abundance of administrative assistant programs at a variety of colleges, you’ll note that very few allow you to spend two pivotal years on the campus of a Christian liberal arts college. While learning your vocation at Dordt, you’ll enjoy the Christian community of new friends who are training to be engineers, teachers, accountants, and healthcare providers. At Dordt you will receive top-notch technical training from instructors who have many years of experience both in the classroom and in the field. Excellent facilities allow most of our classes to be taught in a classroom computer lab, enabling each student to use a personal computer on a regular basis. Computer equipment is up-to-date with a variety of business applications and Microsoft Office. Labs are networked and Internet-enabled to allow easy access to your personal data files and other information.
We are committed to keeping our curriculum up-to-date. Each year the department surveys alumni to find out about the programs and equipment they are using in the workplace. We want our students to have the tools to go out and apply their skills immediately.
Taking courses such as English, history, theology, and communication are an important part of your training. Knowing how to think critically, how to understand issues, and how to articulate your values not only makes you a stronger person but a more confident and capable employee. Employers want intelligent and responsible problem solvers who are able to take initiative in their work, and Dordt students are able to provide those qualities.
