News:
Psychology is an academic field that trains people to research human behavior and mental life and to help restore others to wholeness. Dordt's psychology professors believe that people are created in the image of God with important biological, cognitive, emotional, social, and spiritual dimensions. Because of sin in our lives and in the world, those dimensions do not function as God intended. Through Christ's redemptive work, we can help restore human wholeness through education, research, and counseling.

Program Distinctives:
Our program emphasizes faith, community, and service. We strongly emphasize faith throughout the curriculum by challenging students to think about what it means to be human, to consider how God's truth is revealed through psychological research, and how to restore wholeness in the world. We also focus on developing a strong community of students and professors through shared meals, movie nights, and field trips to graduate schools or mental health hospitals. Finally, students develop insights and skills that strengthen their commitment to service in the world, whether through counseling, research, teaching, or other avenues.
