Business managers today are constantly seeking out employees trained to think creatively, to solve problems, to make decisions, and to use computers to process information. These are high priority skills taught by the Dordt College business department.
But a Dordt education goes one step further, helping students develop as wise, responsible, and caring individuals. Our Christian, liberal-arts programs offer the best environment for fostering these characteristics, teaching basic principles businesses should adhere to for our graduates to positively influence society.
Dordt’s faculty has more than 60 years combined business experience in both large and small companies. The business backgrounds of instructors translate into classroom training that provides the workplace skills you need when entering the business world. And you’ll have far more personal contact with professors at Dordt than at most larger institutions.
The Vermeer Business Center, constructed in 2002, is equipped with technology that equals or exceeds modern business conference centers, and all the connectivity and software programs essential to business today.
The college boasts an exceptional eight-to-one student/computer ratio, with availability further enhanced by a high percentage of students who link their own notebook computers into the network.
In addition to classroom instruction, internships are encouraged. The business department walks students through the important skill of networking, which allows a large percentage of our students to experience internship opportunities locally, nationally, and internationally. Student interns can explore career options with fall, spring, or summer internships throughout North America and other parts of the world.
Among the options offered are the Chicago Semester program, the European Studies Program, or internships with Dordt’s international network of alumni.
Semester placements include Washington, D.C., the Netherlands, Nicaragua, or Haiti. During the summer, students routinely intern in states and provinces all around North America as well as in the four states in the immediate vicinity of Dordt College.
